SEBASTIAN — The Red Door Art Studio in Sebastian has announced four new printmaking and mixed media workshops in December.
Workshops include Monotype, the “painterly print” on Dec. 2; Magic Stamps from heat sensitive foam on Dec. 4; Monotype textures and stencils on Dec. 9; and Mixed Media Collage with re-purposed materials on Dec. 16.
Monotypes will be created on an etching press in the dedicated print room, using highly pigmented water soluble non toxic inks. Working on transparent styrene plates allows for placing images underneath for tracing or as a guide. Textures can be created with common materials such as netting, cheesecloth, lace, doilies and more.
In the collage workshop old unfinished prints and paintings, braille paper, wallpaper samples, origami and imported papers, as well as images from newspaper and magazines, will be put to new use, combined with painted and transferred images.
