SEBASTIAN — A Sebastian man sits in the Indian River County jail, facing 20 counts of sexually battering a child.
The Sebastian Police Department arrested Shannon Boogaerts, 42, of the 200 block of Dickens Ave., Sebastian, on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Boogaerts’ arrest followed the department’s investigation, which started Monday with a report of sexual battery on a child.
When detectives from the Sebastian Police Department contacted Boogaerts on Wednesday, he admitted to several sex acts with the child that took place over the last several years, according to the statement released by the Sebastian Police Department.
