Bicyclist in serious condition after crash

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A bicyclist is in serious condition after a crash Saturday evening.

Javonte Johnson, 10, of Vero Beach, was transported to Lawnwood Medical Center after a crash involving two vehicles, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The crash involved one vehicle driven by Chadrac Premier, 27, and Tracie Powell, 55, in a golf cart, both of Vero Beach.

The crash happened in the area of 10th Rd. SW. and 23rd Ave. 6:30 p.m. Saturday according to FHP. 

Powell and the bicyclist were westbound on 10th Rd. SW. and Premier’s vehicle was eastbound on the same road, according to the report. Powell’s vehicle traveled across the roadway to drive along the south shoulder of the road, Premier’s drove to the left of the center to make room and the front of his vehicle struck  Johnson’s bicycle.  He was not wearing a helmet.
