Helen Wright Bailey, 86, of Vero Beach, passed away on Nov. 16, 2015, at the Indian River Medical Center with her family at her bedside.
She is survived by her husband James L. Bailey; children James L. (Midge) Bailey, Theresa (Sam) Pryor, Mark (Pam) Bailey and Bonnie (George) Nichols; grandchildren Ashley (Matthew) Grall, Colby and Sean Pryor, Tracy (William) Heidtman, Jesse (Linnea) Bailey; great-grandchildren Declan and Kaelyn Grall; niece Laura Attwood and her son Robert Attwood; sister-in-law Nettie Wright and her children Cindy, Ward III, Annabelle and Carl.
She was preceded in death by her parents Theresa and Ward Wright, sister Virginia Williams and brother Ward Wright, Jr.
Bailey was born in Fort Lauderdale and was a longtime resident of Vero Beach.
She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She had worked for 20 years in the Indian River school system including 10 years at Wabasso School for Exceptional Children.
Bailey was gracious and giving. She was a member and on the Board of Directors of the Arthritis Association, as well as volunteering for the Council On Aging and Meals On Wheels. She also volunteered with Sun-Up a program for exceptional adults, the American Diabetes Association, and formerly served as co-chair, along with husband Jim, of the United Way of Indian River County.
She loved her family, her church, and her community. She was a warm, caring, and courageous woman, loved by all who met her.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 23, 2015 at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach with a prayer service beginning at 5 p.m. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 at St. Helen Catholic Church. A guest book is available at www.strunkfuneralhome.com.
