UPDATE: Medical issue caused fatal crash

VERO BEACH — The autopsy results have confirmed a medical issue led to the death of one person in a single vehicle crash at US 1 and 26th Street.

The crash occurred around 5 p.m. Nov. 11, according to Vero Beach Police Spokeswoman Off. Anna Carden. The cause was a heart attack.

Letitia Smith, 46, of Indian River County, was driving a 2013 Honda pickup when it ran off the road, according to authorities. Her vehicle was heading northbound on US 1 and struck a pole at the intersection.

She was pronounced dead at Indian River Medical Center.
