Richard Beddoes Winterton, 93, Vero Beach

Richard Beddoes Winterton, 93, of Vero Beach, passed away on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11, 2015, seven days before his 94th birthday.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Brenda Krym Winterton, of Vero Beach; son Donald Winterton (Paula) of Hooksett, N.H.; daughter Janice Schiavone (Robert) of Manchester, N.H. and St. Augustine, Fla.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Priscilla Backer Winterton; brothers William Winterton and Roland Winterton; sisters Ruth Winterton, Barbara Leonard and Jean Fox.

Winterton was born in Quincy, Mass., and lived in Vero Beach for nine years coming from Barefoot Bay, Fla. He was a graduate of Manchester Central High School, Manchester, N.H., Class of 1939.

He was a United States Army Air Corps veteran serving as Crew Chief during World War II. He was a Mortgage Loan Officer for Manchester Federal Savings for more than 30 years before his retirement in 1985.

Winterton was a longtime member and treasurer of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Manchester, N.H., where he was honored with the Christ Candle for his service. He was also a member of the Exchange Club, Manchester, N.H. He loved Poker, Pinochle, Bridge and the Red Sox.
