Gladys Killmeyer Gillespie, 91, of Vero Beach and Butler, passed away on Nov. 6, 2015.
She was blessed to be married to two wonderful men, Fred J. Killmeyer Jr. and Thomas J. Gillespie III both of which preceded her in death.
She married Fred on Dec. 18, 1944 and had five children, Frederick J. (Eileen) Killmeyer III, Karen (John) Patterson, Scot Killmeyer, Stacie (Mike) Lowery, Jan (Nick) DeMartini; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She married Tom Gillespie on June 28, 1999 and loved his children Thomas (Chris) Gillespie IV, Louise (David) Cannon, Carolyn (Dennis) Raetzke and David (Trish) Gillespie; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Frederick (Rick) in 2008.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1924, to Joseph Steinhardt, and was a graduate of Allegheny High School and attended Robert Morris Business College.
Killmeyer Gillespie cherished her family and friends and loved to laugh at a good joke. She was always up for a party and loved to be with people and travel the world. She loved flowers and enjoyed making arrangements. She was a lifelong member of the Butler Garden Club, the Butler Country Club and Grand Harbor Club in Vero Beach. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of Hosanna Industries and former co-chairman of the Pittsburgh Opera Auxiliary and a member of the Republican Women.
She faithfully attended Nixon Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends of Gladys Killmeyer Gillespie were received at the Fox Funeral Home 410 W. Main St. Saxonburg from 4 to 8 p.m. Nov. 9. A memorial service to celebrate a life well lived will be held at First Presbyterian Church 11 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 10. Reverend Donn Ed will officiate. Burial will be private.
