Dale Edward Swain, 72, of Vero Beach, passed away on Nov. 7, 2015, following a brave fight with Leukemia AML.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Sabia Swain; daughter Daralee Champion (Eric Champion); son Bretton Swain (Eresea McBride Swain); and three beautiful granddaughters, Emily, Elisabeth and Sylvia. He also leaves his mother, Dolly Schuetz, as well as three siblings: Leroy Swain, Karen Schuetz Leidy, and Darlene Schuetz , many nieces and nephews and other family members and many close friends.
He is predeceased by his stepfather, Charles Schuetz.
Born in Aurora, Colo., Swain was raised mostly in Ossining, N.Y. and Stamford, Conn. He graduated from Stamford High School, Stamford, Conn. and attended Bridgeport Engineering Institute, Bridgeport, Conn.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the time of the Vietnam War. He worked on NASA’s Space Shuttle Program in Cape Canaveral and spent 30 years as a Piping Designer for engineering firms in Houston, Texas.
Swain was devoted to his family and had a love of history, music, woodworking, and caring for his home and yard. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
