INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The motorcyclist who died Saturday night when he hit a tree has been identified.
Michael K. McCann, 35, of Vero Beach, has been identified as the rider who died that night, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The accident was alcohol related. It was unknown if he was wearing a helmet.
McCann was riding a 2005 Suzu GSXR when he left the roadway going westbound on 4th St. and struck a tree on the north shoulder, according to authorities. He was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash happened at 4th Street west of 43rd Avenue around 10:30 p.m., according to Indian River County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Sgt. Eric Flowers.
This crash remains under investigation.
