SEBASTIAN — Police and Indian River County Sheriff’s Office resources responded to a report of an attempted kidnapping near a Sebastian park Thursday evening as the would-be victim was walking.
A man driving a tan pickup attempted to abduct an 18-year-old woman near Schumann Drive Park yesterday around 5 p.m., according to Sgt. Dan Acosta. An officer was approached by the victim, who was distraught.
She told the officer the suspect stopped and tried to grab her. When he failed, he fled. She was not injured.
The vehicle was described as having four doors and a rack on the back, and resembling a Toyota Tundra, according to police. The driver was described as a black male in his 30s, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall, bald, with gold teeth.
The Sheriff’s Office helicopter, and two other units assisted in the search, according to Sheriff’s Spokesman Sgt. Thom Raulen.
