Herbert L. Thurber, 81, of Vero Beach, passed away on Oct. 12, 2015.
He is survived by his son Greg Thurber; daughter Lorann Hayes; grandchildren Toni and Nathan; two great-grandchildren; and his longtime companion Katie Enns. He is also the brother of Jim Thompson, Alta Garlick, Dan Thompson, Richard Thompson and the late Robert Thompson, Don Thurber and Donna Engleman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Daphny and second wife Glorida.
Thurber owned and operated Taylor Auto Paint and Equipment Co. in Pontiac for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Elks for 54 years, the Masonic Lodge, and the American Legion Post #108. He was also a published author and longtime member of Pine Lake Country Club.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 at 12 p.m. at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. More information can be found at www.sparksgriffin.com.
