Lloyd Henry ‘Shorty’ Doutrich, 99, Vero Beach

Lloyd Henry ‘Shorty’ Doutrich, 99, of Vero Beach, passed away Oct. 14, 2015.

He is survived by his children Donna (Bill, deceased) Holland, Jerry (Patricia) Doutrich, and Lenore (Steve) Harp, all of Vero Beach; sister Esther Stolfus of Pennsylvania; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Arro (McConnell) Doutrich, his second wife Frances (Chadwick) Doutrich, daughter Jayne (Sam, living) Frey, infant granddaughter Karen L. Holland, and sisters Alta, Elva, Ruth, and Reba.

Doutrich, fondly known as “Shorty,” was born July 1, 1916 in Gap, Penn. and moved to Vero Beach in 1946 from Lancaster, Penn.

He was an expert mechanic with L.L. Hall, Swords Brothers-McDougal, WC Graves, Pippin Tractor Supply, and Edsall Grove Service. He was a long-time member of First Church of God before joining King’s Baptist Church in Vero Beach. He loved his church and enjoyed driving his Ford Mustang.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 at Strunk Funeral Home, 916 17th Street, Vero Beach. A memorial service celebrating his life will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 at King’s Baptist Church, with Pastor Frank Ellis officiating.
