Seeking ice for beer leads to man’s arrest

SEBASTIAN — A man searching for ice for his beer was arrested after he entered a stranger’s home and made his demands.

That stranger was a Sebastian woman who was home alone around 4 p.m. on Friday when the man entered her residence and demanded ice for his beer.

The man was later identified as Johnny Solonzano, 49, who was subsequently arrested on misdemeanor charges including trespass on an occupied dwelling and disorderly intoxication. He is being held on $2,500 bond.

The victim told authorities she was terrified when the unknown male entered her home. She went on to tell investigators that she was relieved when he left after she told him several times to get out, according to the arrest report.

Solonzano, who is listed as homeless, was arrested Friday night in the 13000 Block of US 1, Sebastian, after another woman reported an intoxicated man was “causing a scene” at a nearby Ruby Tuesday’s.

When police made contact with Solonzano, he pretended he did not speak English. Solonzano became hostile when an officer told him he knew Solonzano spoke English, according to the arrest report.

Solonzano matched the description the first woman gave of the man who unlawfully entered her home. She positively identified Solonzano as the trespasser, according to the report.
