Dear Indian River County customers:
Waste Management is pleased to be the exclusive provider of waste and recycling services in Indian River County. Thank you for your support and patience during the initial days of new garbage and recycling cart delivery, and the transition to once per week garbage service for our existing and new subscription customers. Despite some delays, more than 75,000 recycle and garbage carts have been delivered – or 95%.
We are also pleased to have nearly 22,000 subscription garbage customers (thousands placed in the last few days) and this number is still growing daily. This high subscription level (due to our communication plan and the general excitement about the automated cart program) is great news, but has presented some unique challenges. And in south County, despite repeated requests from County Staff, the former hauler did not provide a customer list which has made routing a particular challenge.
Our team is fully engaged and committed to working through these challenges. Beyond our local hauling operation, we have deployed managers, drivers and trucks from additional Waste Management sites including Melbourne, Cocoa, Orlando and Tampa.
Our ongoing commitment to you, our valued customers, is to continue ensuring Indian River County is free of curbside trash.
