George Allen, 80, of Vero Beach, passed away on Oct. 4, 2015.
He is survived by his sons Dave Allen and Jim Allen, and daughter Sara McCray; and grandchildren Adrienne Allen, Heather and Sean.
Allen lived in Philadelphia and worked as a civil engineer for Philadelphia Electric.
He was deeply interested in culture and the life of the mind. He had an affinity for Latin America, film, books, philosophy and dance. He had a gift for talking to strangers in a familiar, uninhibited way. He loved hats. He had a contagious laugh and liked to laugh in the face of absurdity. He lived life playfully even in harsh times.
