INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A dispute between roommates led to the arrest of a Sebastian man on charges including felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Mark Stanley, 57, of 1053 Palmetto Avenue, Sebastian, reportedly engaged in a confrontation with his roommate, the victim. Stanley punched the victim in the face just below his right eye, then grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen and began making stabbing motions as he approached his roommate, according to the arrest report
The victim pushed Stanley away from him and exited the house to seek help from a neighbor, according to authorities.
Neighbors reported hearing a commotion from inside the house, but did not witness the incident.
Police noted a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the defendant along with slurred speech and difficulty maintaining balance. The victim told authorities Stanley has a tendency to get violent when he drinks.
In addition to the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, Stanley was booked for misdemeanor battery. He is being held in lieu of $6,000 bond.
