INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A surfer was rescued by fellow surfers after he got in trouble in the Wabasso Beach area Sunday.
The incident occurred abound 7 p.m. when a surfer found himself in need of help 30-40 feet out from shore, according to Indian River County Spokesman Sgt. Thom Raulen.
He was unconscious, but awoke when EMS transported him to a local hospital.
An alert warning of rip currents is in effect until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Tuesday’s forecast brings poor to hazardous conditions over the Atlantic waters producing choppy seas.
