Eye-popping pink was the color of the day for the men, women and children who participated in the fourth annual Margo Donadio Memorial/Fire Girls 5K last Saturday morning at South Beach Park.
Earlier in the week, the Board of County Commissioners designated Sept. 26 as Margo Donadio Memorial/Fire Girls 5K and World Heart Day, in preparation for the event, which pays tribute to the spirit of the late Margo Donadio and her courageous battle with breast cancer.
Organized by the Fire Girls, a group of firefighter wives and active members of Indian River Fire Rescue, and Margo’s husband Tony Donadio, the annual event benefits the Pink-4-Life Mammogram Assistance Program for local uninsured men and women in need.
