Paul A. Twiss, 69, Vero Beach

Paul A. Twiss, 69, of Vero Beach, passed away on Sept. 25, 2015, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was a longtime resident of Hollywood, Fla., and had recently moved to Vero Beach, which he loved.

He is survived by his devoted wife Gloria Xiques Twiss; loving sons Christopher (Talya) and Robert (Shirelle), grandson Jacob Paul Twiss; devoted Brother Michael Twiss (Le); nephews Adam Twiss (Chantal) and John Adam Twiss; brother in-law Johnny Xiques; lifelong and devoted friends Dawson and Marie Rose and the entire Rose family; the Delaney family; as well as many friends, employees, and business associates. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Twiss was born in Brookline, Mass., in 1946, and spent his childhood in both Brookline and Charlestown, Mass. He was a graduate of Brookline High School. He moved to Hollywood, Fla., in the late 1960’s and started a family. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from FIU.

From time to time he wrote short stories and articles for various papers and magazines. He has been and will always be loved by all who came in contact with him for his extraordinary easygoing personality, kindness, quick wit, sense of humor and unquestionable love for his family, love of his country and insatiable quest for knowledge of its history, especially Civil War. He was a great story teller.

He was always known as an honest, straightforward businessman. He was extremely generous, giving to numerous charities throughout his life.

Twiss was the longtime owner of Fly by Night Fish, followed P.T. Fish, Inc. and The Fish Peddler Seafood Market located in Sunrise, Fla. He recently purchased Indian River Seafood Market in Sebastian.

He is the loving son of Arthur George Twiss and Catherine Sullivan Twiss. He was the beloved grandson of Michael John Sullivan and Ellen Collins Sullivan, the nephew of John Sullivan, Ann Sullivan, Ellen Sullivan, Mary Sullivan, and Rita Sullivan Delaney. All of whom were instrumental in his childhood. They all have preceded him to heaven.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 12 p.m. Sept. 29, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 500 Iris Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32963.
