Euleen Hamilton Vance, 88, Vero Beach

Euleen Hamilton Vance, 88, of Vero Beach, passed away at Palm Garden in Vero Beach on Sept. 10, 2015.

She is survived by her son, Roy Newton Vance III (Karen) of Vero Beach; her two daughters, Terry Louise Vance of Frankfort, Kent. and Linda Barton Vance of Ashville, N.C.; granddaughter Jessica Vance Silver (Michael Silver); great-grandson Gabriel Michael Silver; two sisters, Eva Howerton (Bill), of Paducah, Kent. and Ruth Ann Naas and her husband (Fred), of Eilzabeth Town, Kent. and many nieces and nephews.

Vance was born on May 5, 1927 in Paducah, Kent., to Ruth Hutchinson and Romey Hamilton. She was one of eight children, she and her six sisters were known as the beautiful Hamilton girls.

She worked as a receptionist at the radio station in Paducah after graduating from high school. She was soon promoted to bookkeeper and payroll clerk at the Paducah Radio Station. She met the love for her life, Roy Newton Vance, Jr., at the age of 19.

After meeting Roy, she went home and told her mother she had met the man she was going to marry. She and Roy were married three years later. They had three children while living in Paducah.

She and Roy relocated to Frankfort, Kent, in 1970 when Roy was appointed to the Kentucky Court of Appeals. Vance was known for her quick wit and great sense of humor. She was a grand lady that always made her presence known.

Vance loved to entertain and was a fabulous cook. Her food was always delicious and everyone always wanted her recipes. They were married 57 years when Roy passed away January 2007. At that time, Vance decided to make Vero Beach her full time residence. She and Roy had wintered there for many years and had made many good friends in Vero Beach. She particularly enjoyed the game of bridge. She always said the only date she would never want to miss was her Wednesday game with her lady friends.
