INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A verbal argument and disturbance led to the chase and ultimate arrest of an Indian River County man accused of drug trafficking, according to authorities.
Adrean Pound, 29, of the 4500 block of 38th Court, Vero Beach, now faces charges including trafficking oxycodone, felony possession cocaine with intent to sell, felony tamper with or destroy evidence, possess or consume alcohol in public, and resisting arrest without violence.
In the early morning hours on Sunday, Sept. 27, police responded to a woman who said she wanted her house key returned from Pound after an argument the two engaged in earlier that evening.
The victim told investigators Pound punched her windshield and followed her in a black Dodge Durango, nearly running her off the road.
Officers responded to the victim’s apartment where they found Pound’s vehicle parked nearby. They made contact with Pound who was walking down the sidewalk holding a half empty bottle of tequila, the arrest report states.
Pound then ran from law enforcement officers who chased and caught him, according to the report. Pound discarded a bag from his pocket and the bottle of tequila as he ran.
Authorities found almost 3 grams of powder cocaine, 7.6 grams of crack cocaine, and 65 green pills identified Oxycodone Hydrochlorides, in the bag Pound ditched during the short chase. Pound also had $946 in cash on his person, according to the arrest affidavit.
He is being held in the Indian River County Jail in lieu of $81,500 bond.
