Tips lead to wanted fugitive arrests

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Indian River County Sheriff’s deputies located and arrested a wanted fugitive Thursday night at the Pinnacle Groves Apartment Complex.

Tyrone Davis, 35, of the 8600 block of 61st Drive, Wabasso was found in the Pinnacle Groves Apartment Complex located at the 1800 block of Woodland Cir., Vero Beach, according to authorities. He was in possession of more than 10 grams of cocaine in both powder and crack form.

Davis was wanted for failure to appear on previous charges of resisting arrest without violence.

Latasha Freeze, 28, of the 4500 block of 35th Avenue, Vero Beach was also arrested during the incident and charged with tampering with or attempting to destroy evidence, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, and resisting arrest without violence.

Freeze fled from deputies on foot as they approached and tried to destroy a bag of marijuana in the process.

Davis is being held without bond at the Indian River County Jail, while Freeze is being held in lieu $6,000 bond.

Earlier Thursday evening, Spencer Demotte, 31, of the 1800 block of 40th Avenue, Vero Beach was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a violation of felony probation.

Davis and Demotte were each tracked down with the help of tips from the community.

“As a result of tips from the public, we were able to take two wanted fugitives off the street last night,” said Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar. “Tyrone Davis has an extensive history with our agency including more than 20 bookings in our jail. It is our partnership with the public that can make a difference and we need your help every day.”
