William F. Jackson Jr., of Sebastian, passed away on Sept. 18, 2015, at his home following a fight with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Jackson; his daughter Jennifer Alvarez; his son Brody Jackson; granddaughter Olivia Hensley; brothers Kenneth Jackson and Thomas Jackson; as well as many close friends.
Born in Miami on Feb. 22, 1953, to William F. Jackson, Sr. and Helen O. Jackson, he was very athletic playing baseball and football at Fort Lauderdale High School. After high school, he won a football scholarship at Catawba College in North Carolina.
Jackson later joined in the development of the newly founded family business, W. Jackson & Sons Construction Co. After several years in that original family business, he was then tasked with developing a second family business, Shenandoah General Construction Co. serving as its Chief Executive Officer. He was instrumental in developing Shenandoah to the highly successful business it is today and is regarded a leader in their field.
He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, boater, fisherman and golfer. He enjoyed a wide circle of friends from his high school days in Fort Lauderdale, his sports as well as his professional career in construction and construction service industries.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 at Strunk Funeral Home 1623 North Central Blvd., Sebastian. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian.
In lieu of flowers Bill’s wishes are that there be donations made to the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 or to the Shriners’ Hospital for Children, 2900 North Rocky Point Rd., Tampa, FL 33607 in memory of William F. Jackson, Jr.
