Ann Dixon Curtin, 93, Vero Beach

Ann Dixon Curtin, 93, of Vero Beach, formerly of Montclair, N.J., passed away peacefully at her home in Vero Beach, on Sept. 19, just two weeks shy of her 94th birthday.

She is survived by her four devoted children: Ellen Curtin of San Diego, John P. Curtin, Jr. of Toronto, Kate Curtin Lindsey of Washington, DC and Kyle Curtin of New York City as well as her five grandchildren: Hayden Curtin, Thomas F Curtin III, Whitney Curtin, John Lindsey and Andrew Lindsey.

Born in Elizabeth, N.J., Curtin resided in Montclair, N.J. for more than 65 years. She graduated from The Kimberly School in 1939 and Manhattanville College in 1943. She was also a member of the first training class of New York City’s Red Cross Volunteer Nurses’ Aid Corps during World War II. She was married to her beloved husband John P. Curtin for 39 years until his death in 1986.

Curtin was an active volunteer with the Junior League of Montclair, Mountainside Hospital, and the Red Cross. She was a member of The Oak Harbor Club and Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Ann was also a long-time member of the Montclair Golf Club, the Bay Head Yacht Club, and The Moorings Club.

Her keen mind, unparalleled wit, and well-known feisty spirit, combined with her commitment to family and friends will never be forgotten by those lucky enough to have known her.

Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice Foundation of Indian River County, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 in memory of Ann Dixon Curtin.

Services will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m.
