Ila ‘Connie’ Jean, 64, Vero Beach

Ila ‘Connie’ Jean, 64, of Vero Beach, passed away on Sept. 9, 2015. Her family was surrounding her with love, but loving her enough to let her go.

She is survived by her son Dexter Emory, Sr. of Vero Beach; daughters Kaye Johnson and Rhonda Emory both of Vero Beach, Patricia Sirmons of Ft. Pierce; brothers Willie R. (Ruth Ann) Johnson of Ft. Pierce, Willie (Geraldine) Johnson, Jr. of Donaldsonville, Ga., John (Letitia) Johnson of Ft. Pierce, Timothy Noble of Fort Pierce, and John (Veronica) Taylor of Rochester, N.Y.; sister Annie (Sam) Robinson of Ft. Pierce; grandsons DeNorris Washington, Troystavious Hewitt, Verntavious Hewitt, Marquane Sparkman, Dexter Emory, Jr., Lorenzo Timothy, Vidhal Brooks, Keshawn Allenye and Dontavious Eubanks; granddaughters Marcobia Sparkman, Jondreaya Emory, Darmesha Miller, Loveline Cadet, Chiquitta Williams, Shaliesha Emory, Dexteria Emory, Teria Chaney, Dinesha Eubanks and Julia Emory; great-grands Pere’una, Zy’noria, Va’Niyah, Markesia, Denar’yn, Nicole, Tyleb and Rodney; goddaughters Jennifer Taylor and Monica Taylor–Carswell and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Willie and Annie Johnson, brothers; Johnny and Willie James Johnson.

Jean was born on June 1, 1951 in Fort Pierce to the late Willie and Annie Johnson. She was the third of seven siblings.

She grew up and attended schools in St. Lucie County. She later married and three children were born. After working for 35 years for the St. Lucie County Schools System she retired.

Jean accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior at a young age. She was a church mother at Prophetic Praise Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Michael Hill.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, 3 to 7 p.m. at Prophetic Praise Ministry, 4686 Palomar Avenue, Fort Pierce, and Saturday, Sept. 19, 9 11 a.m. at Sarah’s Memorial Chapel. A Home Going Celebration will be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, 1 p.m. at 13th Street Church of God Greater Faith.
