Mallory Webb Dan, of Vero Beach, formerly of West Orange, N.J. and Katonah, N.Y., passed away on Sept. 4, 2015.
She is survived by her sons Kevin Webb Crane and Nicholas Danforth; stepchildren Alan P. Danforth, Jr. (Kathleen), Penelope Danforth; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Alan P. Danforth and a stepson Michael P. Danforth.
She was the daughter of the late Burton Mallory Webb and Virginia Williams Webb and sister of the late Thomas Dudley Webb. Burton Webb was a founding partner of Jewett, Newman and Company, a Wall Street brokerage house. He held a seat on the New York Stock Exchange for 52 years.
Mrs. Danforth attended Miss Beards School in Orange, N.J. and graduated from Miss Porter’s School, Farmington, Conn. in 1946. Her former husband’s work took her to Mexico, Spain and Geneva, Switzerland before returning to the United States.
While living in Katonah, she was a member of the Bedford Golf and Tennis Club, and in retirement she was a member of the Mariner Sands Country Club in Stuart, Fla. where she excelled in tennis and golf. She was also a member of The Vero Beach Country Club.
Artistically creative, Mallory enjoyed making beautiful miniature Christmas trees and doll house miniatures. Throughout the years she also specialized in making decoupage plates and articles of all sorts.
Mrs. Danforth was the great-great granddaughter of Andrew Erkenbrecher, who founded the Cincinnati Zoo (Cincinnati Zoological Garden) and the granddaughter of the late Clara Erkenbrecher Webb and Thomas Dudley Webb originally from Cincinnati, Ohio.
A memorial service is planned for her at the place of her residence, Regency Park in Vero Beach, Florida, at a date to be determined. Donations may be made to your local VNA/Hospice House.
