The beach in front of Mulligan’s Beach House at Sexton Plaza was filled with spectators Saturday, basking in the bright sunshine as they cheered on participants in the eighth annual Shore lb. Throw Down, billed as the largest one-day skim board contest in the world.
Contestants self-identified skill levels in five divisions – I Suck, I’m Good, I’m Better, I’m Going Pro Tomorrow and I am a Professional – and were judged on criteria similar to that of snowboarding, including ride difficulty, and the number and skill level of their tricks.
Proceeds benefited the Vero Beach Lifeguard Association, which is dedicated to promoting water safety in the community.
