Police arrest hit-and-run suspect the victim claims had gun

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A man was arrested after he rear ended another car and fled the scene. The victim told authorities the man pointed a gun at him in an attempt to stop the victim from calling police.

Wolfdy Domond, 21, was arrested in the 4300 block of US 1. His address was not listed in the booking report.

He had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on a trespassing charge. His charges now include leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, driving without a driver’s license, and trespassing after a warning.

According to the arrest report, the victim identified Domond as the man who was driving a white van that rear ended the victim at the intersection of 45th Street and US 1.

The victim told authorities that Domond checked on the victim immediately following the collision and told the victim there was no damage done to the vehicle.

When the victim informed Domond a call was being placed to police, Domond pointed a gun at the victim and told him not to make the call, the arrest report states. However, the report does not note that authorities found a gun in Domond’s possession and he currently does not face a firearms-related charge.

Domond returned to his vehicle and fled the scene, the victim told authorities. While on the phone to dispatch, the victim followed Domond, who ultimately stopped in the parking lot of Citrus Packing house where Domond and his passenger exited the white van and approached the victim’s vehicle waving their hands.

The victim drove away and met police at a Cumberland Farms in the 4500 block of US 1.

While authorities assessed the damage to the victim’s vehicle, they received a call that another deputy was in contact with a person matching the victim’s description of the defendant. The victim positively identified the person as the suspect.

According to the arrest report, Domond told police he did rear end a vehicle and fled because he does not have a driver’s license. He denied making any threats to the victim and told police he did not have any weapons.

No other mention of a gun or weapon was made in the arrest report.
