Space Coast Symphony presents animated classics Aug. 23

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The kids get in free when Homer Simpson and Bart join Shrek, Donkey and a host of other characters by DreamWorks Animation for the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra’s Animation Domination at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23 in Vero Beach.

Presented at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th Street, 32960, the concert will celebrate some of the most exciting animation film scores during a rousing afternoon with film highlights on the giant screen.

In addition to The Simpsons and Shrek, the young and young at heart can experience film clips and live music to Madagascar, How to Train Your Dragon, Chicken Run, Rise of the Guardians and The Croods.

Youngsters may take to the stage to assist Conductor Aaron Collins during the interactive program. The Space Coast Symphony Chorus will join the orchestra to lend vocal color in a performance that includes kazoos and assorted vocal calisthenics. Animation Domination is free for those aged 18 and under or with a student ID.

Conductor and Artistic Director, Aaron Collins, believes families will really enjoy the end-of-summer program that is free for those under 18 or with a student ID.

“This concert is going to be a blast for everybody,” said Collins. “Not only are the characters fun to watch, but concert-goers can really get an appreciation for how much the film music adds to the total experience.”
