Marie Josephine Magnier, 83, Vero Beach

Marie Josephine Magnier “Windy”, 83, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully in the arms of her family on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, in New Vernon, N.J.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John J. “Jack” Magnier; two sons, John Magnier, Jr. (Nancy) of Madison, William T. Magnier (Mary) of Convent Station; five daughters, Regina Marie Matthews (Neil) of Madison, Bernadette Marie Briand (Alphonse) of Bernardsville, Marie Therese “Teri” Forand (Michael) of Basking Ridge, Grace Marie Mallaney (Edward) of Madison, and Michele Marie Sweeney (Paul) of Basking Ridge; one brother, William T. Henderson of Stowe, Vt.; 24 grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William T. and Marie J. Henderson.

Magnier was a 25-year communicant of Christ the King R.C. Church, New Vernon, and most recently Holy Cross R.C. Church, Vero Beach. She loved golf, being a member of the Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club in Vero Beach and The Morris County Golf Club, Convent Station.

In 1996 she was inducted to the Marylawn of the Oranges Hall of Fame, and she was a founding member of the Presidents Council of the College of St. Elizabeth’s.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015 at Christ the King R.C. Church, New Vernon, N.J. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Christ the King R.C. Church from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, 2015. Interment will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Arrangements are under the direction of the Valley Memorial Funeral Home, Gillette, N.J.

Memorial contributions may be made in Marie’s memory to The Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital, 100 Madison Avenue, Morristown, NJ 07960.
