John Brockenbrough Hutchins, 80, of Vero Beach, passed away.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Suzanne Chapman Hutchins; children John (Margaret) Hutchins, Lila (Louis) Bahin, and Christopher (Angela) Hutchins; and six grandchildren.
Hutchins was a resident of Vero Beach, and grew up in Winnetka, Ill., with his three younger brothers: Coleman, Harley and Brock Hutchins. He graduated from Williams College in 1958 and then volunteered for the draft and became a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne’s Artillery Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.
He spent almost two decades with American Hospital Supply Corp where he worked in contract supply and marketing, settling in Northfield, Ill. He finished his career with Hospilab, International where he worked with developing countries around the world.
During retirement, Hutchins volunteered his time to help seniors with financial matters, enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and many close friends, and pursuing his life-long passion of the game of golf.
A private memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Northshore (IL) University Health System Foundation- Advance Care Planning, or The Community Church of Vero Beach.
