Bank of America joins community support for Camp Haven

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — With a success rate of approximately 85 percent, Camp Haven’s transitional shelter-program is working and the community is taking notice. Area men who were once homeless or at-risk have graduated with a steady job in hand and a place of their own. Upon completing the program, many have come back to express their gratitude for what the organization has done to change their lives.

“I just want to say thank you for believing in me. When I didn’t see the best in me, you did. You gave me the tools I needed to be empowered; to take charge of my life,” wrote Derrick, a former participant.

With the help of individuals, churches, grantors and foundations such as Bank of America Charitable Foundation, Inc., who recently awarded the non-profit a $3,500 grant to assist with operational expenses, Camp Haven is able to continue providing the necessary shelter, food, clothing, counseling and training to area homeless and at-risk men who are trying to get back on their feet and attain a self-sufficient life.

“We are most grateful to Bank of America Charitable Foundation for supporting our mission. Lives are being transformed and futures rebuilt because of the ongoing support and generosity of this community,” said Camp Haven’s Board President, Lalita Janke.
