Jay Scott Anderson, Sebastian

Jay Scott Anderson, of Sebastian, passed away on Aug. 8, 2015, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

He is survived by his brother Thor; his daughter Jonna (Kevin); his two grandchildren Jayna and Jaden and his beloved dog Paige; Peggy Quigley and her daughter, Heather (Larry) Quigley along with her granddaughter Alexa. In addition, Peggy’s son Brennan is also a survivor with his wife, Jennifer and their children Ahnolah and Hazelle and Peggy’s youngest daughter, Colleen Paige Quigley.

Anderson was a popular boat captain in the Sebastian area. He was recognized for his well known, enjoyable and informative eco tours. Prior to settling in as a tour boat captain, Anderson was a commercial fisherman throughout the Florida Keys. His love of nature, his ability to relate to the people around him, along with his maritime skills made him the perfect boat captain.

Before moving to Florida in 1983, Anderson was a long time resident of eastern Long Island where he ran his own successful shellfish business.

He attended Sayville High School and graduated with the Class of 1965. He played baseball for his high school team in his sophomore and junior years. He attended Suffolk County Community College where he majored in Art and was a member of the wrestling team.
