Norris Dane Penland, 86, of Vero Beach, passed away at home on July 31, 2015.
He is survived by his two daughters, Dr. Mary Cecile Penland (Dr. Alei Garcia) of Boulder, Colo. and San Jose, Calif., and Helen Penland of Coconut Creek, Fla.; brother Carl W. Penland of Salisbury, Md.; sisters Annabelle P. Martin of Palm Bay, Fla. and Carolyn P. Rice of Vero Beach.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Ethel May Hammill Penland.
Penland was born on May 3, 1929 in Weaverville, N.C., to Walton Dane and Amelia Hansen Penland. Growing up in his younger years in Vero Beach, he graduated with the Class of 1947 from Vero Beach High School.
He joined the Army Air Corps, was employed with the Zigrang Groves and the United States Post Office in Vero Beach. In 1962, he began training nine months to become a Postal Inspector of Fradudulent Mail and retired to Miami after 25 years of service.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, a Prayer Service will begin at 11 a.m. and Interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery.
