Robert Anthony Sabot, 88, Vero Beach

Dr. Robert Anthony Sabot, 88, of Vero Beach, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at his residence in Vero Beach.

He is survived by his wife, Rose, of 67 years; five children, Paul, Denise, Robert, Donna and Dawn; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Sabot was a native of Yonkers, N.Y. “Dr. Bob” as he is known to his family and friends received his degree from Kensington University as a Doctor of Philosophy Education Administration. He retired from General Foods in 1985 after 32 years. He was a faculty member at the State University College of Purchase in New York.

He served in the United States Army Air Force from 1944 to 1946, and received a World War II Victory Medal. He was a board member of The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office for 27 years, Life Member Veterans of Foreign Wars, Life Member AMVETS, Life Member, Officer and Trustee of Elks Lodge #1774. He was also a member of St. Helen’s Parrish and an honorary “Ladybug.”

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church. And Military Honors will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015 at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to VNA/Hospice or St. Helen’s Church.
