Allene L. Walker, 85, of Vero Beach, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Palm Gardens of Vero Beach.
She is survived by her son, Ray Walker (Carolyn); daughters Barbara Smith (Rushel) and Nelda McNees (Jack); daughter-in-law Libby Walker; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John W. Walker, Sr.; son John W. Walker, Jr.; four brothers, Edwin V., Merice L., Leland and Clyde R. Langford; sister Beth Langford as well as a grandson, Robert Waine Whitehead.
Walker was born in Berring County, Ga., to the late Luther and Amanda Asbell Langford.
She was a member of the Grace Life Church of Vero Beach, formally known as Forest Park Baptist Church. She worked for the Indian River School Board as the Food service manager for 32 years. She loved her family, cooking and inspiring others in the food service. She also enjoyed camping and teaching Sunday school and she was an excellent swimmer.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, 1950 20th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Crestlawn Cemetery.
