GIFFORD — An apartment fire in Gifford this morning has displaced two families, including at least three children, according to authorities.
The fire started in a child’s room in a second floor unit the Taylor Pointe Apartments on 38th Circle before 6 a.m.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, which forced the evacuation of the 8-unit building. Only two units were damaged – where the fire started and the unit below, which sustained water damage.
The state Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. Authorities said the fire originated on the mattress of one of the children’s beds.
The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the two families affected by the fire.
