Theresa J. Cavanaugh, 82, of Vero Beach, passed away on July 17, 2015.
She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Robert G. Cavanaugh of Vero Beach; her daughter Deborah Girard of Southampton, Mass.; her grandchildren Heather Girard of Southampton, Mass., Bryce Girard of Easthampton, Mass.; and Charlotte Allen of South Hadley, Mass; great-grandchildren Liliana and Olyvia Girard of Southampton; three sisters- in-law Peg Tremble of Dover, Del., Rose Tremble of Worcester, Mass., Diana Yersley of Viera, Fla., and her daughter in law Robin of Easthampton, Mass.
She was preceded in death by her seven brothers as well as two sons Robert Girard of Southampton, Mass., and Norman Girard of Granby, Mass.
Cavanaugh was born in Holyoke, Mass., on March 22, 1933. Her childhood was spent in Chicopee, Mass., where she along with her seven brothers grew up under the watchful eyes of Aunt Cora and Uncle Albert.
She had a full and varied work life. In the Holyoke and Chicopee area she was employed by the Holyoke Hospital, Holyoke Country Club, and Kelly’s lobster house as well as many other establishments throughout the Holyoke area. In 1992 she retired to Vero Beach where she enjoyed a whole new set of experiences.
She along with her husband Bob founded and operated Terry’s lawn maintenance in Sebastian. She retired once again from the Indian River Country Club where she had enjoyed not only her coworkers but also the members who would look flock to her golf cart mid round to enjoy a beverage between holes.
In Florida, Cavanaugh served as President of the Vero Lake Estates Homeowners Association and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at Seawinds Funeral Home, 375 South Flemming Street in Sebastian on July 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. All are invited.
If a smile is worth a thousand words Terry Cavanaugh was an encyclopedia. She will be loved and missed every day by all that knew her.
