Gifford ‘Unity in the Community’ event planned for Aug. 1

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The public is invited to attend “Unity in the Community” on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Gifford Aquatic Center, 4895 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach.

The event is sponsored by Gifford Youth Achievement Center, Progressive Civic League of Gifford, Pastor Association, Indian River County Sheriff’s Department and Florida Department of Health in Indian River County.

“By attending this event, the residents of Indian River County will discover the numerous resources and information that can improve their community unity,” said John May, HIV Outreach Coordinator for Florida Department of Health in Indian River County.

This free event will provide attendees information on local services which will benefit the mind, body and soul.

Sponsors are providing a free lunch and giveaways for participants. Additionally, there will be free admission to the Gifford Aquatic Center with free swimming lessons. Free HIV and STD testing will also be provided, as well as blood pressure and health screenings.

Other participating organizations include the Feed the Lambs, NAACP, the Treasure Coast Food Bank, and 5210 Let’s Go!
