Local artists design shirts to support Friends After Diagnosis

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Local artist Annette Winkler and graphic designer Matt Chase teamed up to create a beautiful and impactful shirt to benefit Friends After Diagnosis, a breast cancer support group.

“STRONG” is the word emblazoned on the front of the shirt, intertwined with the delicate petals of a cluster of pink roses. The back of the shirt includes the nonprofit’s logo, slogan “I’m not afraid of cancer — I have Friends,” and web address www.FriendsAfterDiagnosis.com.

All the shirts are cut for a woman’s fit and are made of soft, lightweight 100-percent cotton in white, pink, or gray. They are available in short sleeve crew-neck, short sleeve V-neck, and three-quarter sleeve V-neck. The cost is $25 for the short sleeve and $30 for the three-quarter sleeve styles. The shirts can be purchased at Friends meetings or via www.FriendsAfterDiagnosis.com.

This is the first shirt created for the support group, which holds three meetings per month in Vero Beach and one meeting per month in Sebastian. It is the only fundraiser currently in progress for the organization, which, in addition to the support meetings, provides education, wellness programs, and gently used prostheses to survivors free of charge. All proceeds will support Friends After Diagnosis programming and outreach.

Founded in 2010 by Lin Reading, Indian River County’s only certified cancer navigator, the group is primarily for breast cancer survivors, caregivers and loved ones, but all who have been touched by any cancer are welcome to attend the meetings. Up-to-date meeting and program information can be found at www.FriendsAfterDiagnosis.com. For additional information call (772) 978-9392.
