Tip leads to search for man wanted on DUI Manslaughter warrant

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A man hunt involving the K-9 unit and helicopters lasted several hours Tuesday starting around 8 p.m. and ending with the arrest of a 28-year-old man wanted on a warrant for DUI Manslaughter.

The Florida Highway Patrol received an arrest warrant for Kristopher Jarvis, of Vero Beach, on the DUI manslaughter charge stemming from an incident in March,  according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Sgt. Thom Raulen.

The circumstances of the March incident were not immediately released.

The tip that came into authorities placed Jarvis at the Serenoa neighborhood clubhouse, according to authorities. When deputies arrived, he fled. Authorities were not able to apprehend him.

At around 1:15 a.m., Jarvis turned himself in to the Sheriff’s Office, where he was booked into the County Jail. He has been released on $35,000 bail.
