Mildred Ida Hershiser, 80, Vero Beach

Mildred Ida Hershiser, 80, of Vero Beach, passed away on July 3, 2015, at her home surrounded by family.

She is survived by her beloved husband Orel Leonard Hershiser III of Windermere, Fla.; and their four children, Orel L. Hershiser IV, Mildred (Katie) Hershiser-Jones, Gordon T. Hershiser, and Paul (Judd) Hershiser; nine grandchildren, Orel L. Hershiser V, Jordan D. Hershiser, David C. Jones, Madison D. Hershiser, Katherine A. Jones, Lane K. Hershiser, Kendall G. Jones, Judson Hershiser and Tyler Hershiser.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father and her brothers, Harry T. Gillman and Raymond E. Gillman.

Hershiser was born in Buffalo, N.Y., to Harry T. Gillman and Mildred Katherine Georgina Winegar Gillman on April 19, 1935. She went to high school with Orel Sr. at Amherst Central High School and graduated in 1952.

She was involved in Habitat for Humanity, The Evans Scholars Foundation, and First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach as a long time member and past Deacon.

She was happiest loving and caring for her children and grandchildren, golfing and shopping for gifts for others. For those who knew her it was never about Millie but always about how she could serve others. She was honored to receive Little League Parent of the Year and to be recognized with her husband as a Cornerstone Donor for Indian River Habitat for Humanity.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Blvd., Vero Beach, FL 32960 on July 11, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. with Pastor Timothy Womack of First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach officiating. DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory are handling the funeral arrangements.
