INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and MACE unit executed a search warrant that resulted in the arrest of a man who police say had in his possession nearly two pounds of marijuana.
Clinton Pottinger, 57, was arrested in the 3800 block of 44th Place in Vero Beach where Pottinger resides, according to the arrest affidavit. An apartment address in the 1900 block of Indian River Boulevard was listed on Pottinger’s the booking report.
He now faces felony charges including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana over 20 grams. He faces one misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest without violence.
Pottinger fled the residence seconds after authorities arrived and continued to dodge the SWAT team through a wooded area in the backyard before he was detained while trying to jump a neighbor’s fence.
Police retraced Pottinger’s attempted escape route and recovered a grocery bag containing 117 grams of marijuana and a black canvas bag containing about 690 grams of marijuana divided into various weighted packages, according to the arrest affidavit.
The total weight of the marijuana recovered by police was 807 grams, just under 2 pounds.
Pottinger is being held in the Indian River County Jail and is listed without bond.
