INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — At its June 23, 2015, Business Meeting, the School Board of Indian River County approved the following Principal appointment:
Christopher Kohlstedt is the new Principal at Pelican Island Elementary School. Mr. Kohlstedt is currently the Director of Assessment and Accountability for the District. He has experience as a teacher and has served as an administrator at Indian River Academy (formerly Highlands Elementary) and Vero Beach High School.
Mr. Kohlstedt expressed his enthusiasm to begin the 2015-2016 school year as the Principal of Pelican Island Elementary School. Dr. Mark Rendell, who will take the reins as Superintendent of Schools on July 1, said, “Mr. Kohlstedt is an experienced instructional leader. In addition to his experience as a teacher and Assistant Principal, his most recent assignment as Director of Assessment and Accountability gives him a deep understanding of what is needed to support and improve instruction in the classroom and to assure student success.”
