VERO BEACH — Main Street Vero Beach will host painter, sculptor and contemporary surrealist, Charles Blake, at the First Friday event in downtown Vero Beach on July 3, 2015.
Blake has lived by the sea for most of his life and it has been one of his greatest inspirations for his art.
His paintings often reflect the beauty of nature and wildlife. His deep concern for the environment and how man has chosen to treat Mother Nature has influenced him to record the good and the bad deeds of mankind.
The world of nature does not exist without mystery. He taps into that realm of mystery which has always been a catalyst for his art. At times the subjects of his paintings portray a sense of dream like darkness as birds and fish congregate in bizarre situations, peering out beyond the canvas into the eyes of the viewer.
His textural paintings often depict scenes which are rendered in a full spectrum of deep, luscious hues and tones. There is also another side to Charles’ paintings, a lighter side with a sense of humor, where birds and fish dance and mingle or gaze longingly out into the distance.
The reception for his show will be during First Friday, July 3, in the Arts District of downtown Vero Beach from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Main Street Vero Beach office located at 2036 14th Avenue. For more information contact the office at (772) 643-6782 or [email protected].
