Academy for Performing Arts offers lessons for beginning band students

VERO BEACH — The Academy for the Performing Arts, a local non-profit community music school, is launching a new program, primarily for students entering into 5th and 6th grades this fall. The program will help equip children with the confidence and musical skills in preparation for the middle school music programs.

Beginning Band instruction is now offered for students learning a band instrument for the first time. Fun instruction in a group setting by instructor Ron Youmans, students are always motivated as he is funny and experienced. Mr. Youmans works with several middle school bands in Brevard County and with the Vero Beach High School band. Students should bring their instrument (flute, clarinet, alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, trombone, or percussion) and a music stand.

Beginning Band Group is meeting for 10 sessions in five weeks on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 5:30 p.m. for 60 minute lessons beginning June 30. Tuition is only $50 per week. Limited seats are available so register soon. There is also a group available for those who already have some aptitude. Vocal and guitar groups are also being formed for beginners and intermediate levels.
