Eugene “Gene” Smith, 74, of Vero Beach, passed away on June 13, 2015, at Consulate Health Care.
He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia “Pat” Voyles Smith of Vero Beach; stepdaughter Kristy (Scott) Beane of Plymouth, Mass.; son Steven Smith of Montgomery Center, Vermon; daughter Vickie Salomone of Palm Bay; sister Pamela Marcella of Hingham, Mass.; grandchildren Tallulah Beane and Lyla Beane, and Felicia Salomone, M. Ryan Salomone and Anthony Salomone.
Smith was born in Boston, Mass., to the late George and Vera C. (nee Stephane) Smith. He returned to the Treasure Coast four years ago to reside in Vero Beach after living a number of years in Buzzard’s Bay, Mass.
He was veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army, and had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach.
Smith had a varied career with extensive work as a General Contractor in Massachusetts Cape Area and in Brevard and Indian River County. He was a licensed automobile broker and been in partnership in the restaurant industry.

A memorial service for Gene will begin at 1 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach with Rev. Wes Ummel officiating.
