INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble will present its annual summer concert on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 7 p.m. in the James M. Sammons Auditorium at the Vero Beach High School (VBHS) Performing Arts Center. Admission is free though a donation will gladly be accepted. Tickets are not required.

Founded in 2008, the Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble is a wind, brass, and percussion ensemble comprised of approximately 50 professional and semi-professional musicians from the Treasure Coast, Space Coast, and Palm Beaches. The wind ensemble is conducted by Colbert Page Howell, Jr., associate director of bands at Vero Beach High School.

This year’s concert features Alan Hovhaness’s Tower Music, Gustav Holst’s Hammersmith: Prelude and Scherzo, Percy Grainger’s Immovable Do, and Robert Russell Bennett’s Suite of Old American Dances. The concert will also feature Riffs on the “Red and White” composed by Vero Beach High School alumnus, Nathan Stang. This piece was commissioned by the Vero Beach High Band in honor of the 10th anniversary of the VBHS Performing Arts Center.
