Suspended license leads to felony drug charges

VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Police Department’s Special Investigation Unit has arrested man on multiple felony drug charges.

Kenneth Godwin, 35, of Indian River County, was arrested and faces four felony charges of possession of Oxycodon, Hydromorphone, Suboxone, and Methamphetamine, according to authorities. He also faces two misdemeanors of possession of marijuana under 20 grams, and two counts of driving with a suspended license.

Police began their investigation earlier this month of drug activity in the area of 15th Street and 41st Avenue, according to the press release. They obtained a warrant for Goodwin’s arrest after he was seen driving through the area with a known suspended license. 

Godwin was arrested on the warrant Thursday around 9 p.m., according to Lt. Matt Harrelson, who heads up Vero’s Detective Division. When the suspect’s car was searched, officers found Methamphetamine, Oxycodone, Suboxone, Hydromorphone, and Marijuana. 

Godwin is currently being held in lieu of $21,5000 bail at the Indian River County Jail.
