Storms knock out power in several areas of Indian River County

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — More than 1,000 Florida Power and Light customers are currently without power throughout Indian River County, according to FPL’s website.

Strong storms moved through the county, causing the power outages.

Outages have been reported west of Vero Beach along 66th Avenue, in Sebastian and Vero Lake Estates, and in South Vero Beach.

The largest outage appears to be in the area of 66th Avenue south of County Road 510.

Approximately 1,100 customers are affected in that area, according to FPL. The outage was reported shortly before 5 p.m.

According to FPL, power there is expected to be restored shortly after 7 p.m.

More than 100 customers in Sebastian are without power, which should be restored anytime between 7 and 9:45 p.m., depending on the location.

Less than 100 customers are without power in Vero Lake Estates. Their power is expected to be restored around 6:30 p.m.

Approximately 50 customers are without power in South Vero, in the area of 8th Street and 27th Avenue. Power should be restored around 7 p.m.
